The Best Razors For Sensitive Skin
Hey guys, Daniel here again, ready to share with you some valuable information on what you need to do to stay looking sharp in the workplace. If you are like me, you may have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin can make shaving a hassle and because of this, I have decided to dedicate this review to finding the best razors for sensitive skin. All my life I have had sensitive skin and this has caused be to be severely limited in my choice of razors
I can remember as far back as high school dealing with embarrassing razor bumps and burn. In fact, it wasn’t until college that I started taking my grooming serious. At this point in my life, I knew I had to do something about my problem or I would continue to have to deal with razor irritation for the rest of my days. My other option wasn’t any better, start getting used to having a beard like Santa Claus. Obviously, I choose my first option. As I began my research into the world of sensitive skin I learned a lot about what the actual causes of razor bumps and burn are.
The Best Razors for Sensitive Skin – What You Need to Know
The first step I made to correct my issue was I started shaving using a high-quality shaving gel. This reduces friction dramatically and if my skin wasn’t so sensitive this would have been adequate to stop my problems. Unfortunately, I need to go a step further, so I began researching the different type of shaving methods that were available and how each one stacks up to each other.
I liked the convenience of an electric razor but I was not a fan of the limited closeness of the shave. I also found electric razors; especially foil razors, to cause me to have red and irritated skin after use. Eventually, I found a nice wet & dry electric razor that allowed me to use my shaving gel. This definitely reduced the risk of razor burn and satisfied me for the time being. Electric razors are extremely convenient, most are wireless and can be carried in your gym bag or glove box. The main issue I had with this type of razor is if I wasn’t using a wet & dry version I would be almost guaranteed to have some form of razor burn.
Eventually, I decided I wanted to continue my journey down the rabbit hole, so I began researching safety razors. Safety razors gave me the closeness and smoothness I desired but they required much more skill and technique to be used properly. The first couple of times I used my straight razor was a combination of mini successes and failures. I managed to follow the technique well enough to avoid any nicks but I was unable to get the smoothness I desired.
After about a month of use, I decided I was finally ready to shave against the grain of my hair and get the ultimate shave. This, of course, didn’t go as planned on my first try but after about my fourth go at it, I had become very skilled at this and my face was beginning to look baby smooth again. I must admit there is something very appealing about using this tried and true method of grooming. You really feel like a manly man lathering up for your shave. Depending on how sensitive your skin is you may not need to follow this journey all the way to a safety razor but for me, it was necessary to achieve the quality of shave I desired.
The Best Razor for Sensitive Skin – My Top 5 Favorites
Along my journey, I noticed some razors worked far better than others on my sensitive skin. There are dozens of manufacturers that claim their razor is specifically designed for sensitive skin but in most cases, this is untrue and merely just a marketing ploy. These are my picks for the best razors for sensitive skin.
Baxter of California Safety Razor
Baxter of California Safety Razor
The Baxter of California Safety Razor comes in a classic wet shave design. This custom chrome-platted Double-Edge Safety Razor features high-quality German engineering. I prefer my safety razors to be traditional style. It adds to the overall manliness of this blade.
Pros
- Chrome-Platted
- Double-Edged
- German Engineered
- Classic Styling
Cons
- Must Use Proper Technique to Avoid Nicks
Safety razors are great for reducing razor burns and bumps. The downside is you are going to have to shave the same places a couple times to get to a smooth comfortable shave. This is a great razor for anyone with sensitive skin. The intuitive design and ergonomic handle make this a very comfortable razor to use.

Merkur Futur Adjustable Safety Razor (700) Razor (Matte Finish)
Merkur Futur Adjustable Safety Razor (700) Razor (Matte Finish)
The Merkur Futur Adjustable Safety Razor comes in a beautiful satin finish that gives this razor it’s unique appeal. The German craftsmanship of this razor is exceptional and the double edge design gives you twice the cutting capabilities. This high-quality safety razor is fully adjustable to meet your preferences.
Pros
- Satin Finish
- German Engineered
- Fully Adjustable
- Double Edged
Cons
- Wide Head Makes Lip Hard to Shave
I prefer the matt finish over the chrome finish as it doesn’t show signs of hard water as easily. This hefty razor has a little more weight than the competition. I like the added weight because it allows you to apply little to no pressure when shaving. I just let the weight of the head do the work. This is the smoothness shave can get without getting razor bumps. If you have sensitive skin you should definitely consider using a safety razor.
Gillette Mach 3 Disposable Razors
Gillette Mach 3 Disposable Razors
The Gillette Mach 3 Disposable Razors are designed with extra lubricating strips to reduce irritation. These inexpensive razors do the job when you are in a pinch. I wouldn’t recommend to many disposable razors if you have sensitive skin but Gillette has proven themselves with these quality blades.
Pros
- Triple-Blade Design
- Spring Mounted Blades
- Enhanced Lubrastrip
- Inexpensive
Cons
- Lower Quality Blades
The triple blade design gives you better shaving capabilities than a single blade razor. The secret to this design is not going over three blades. This helps to reduce razor bumps. You should always use a good shaving gel when using this type of razor. If you are looking for the most cost-effective way to deal with your sensitive skin, you should try these razors. They work great and you can’t beat the price.

Cons

This razor is made from premium high gloss metal and it is ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in your hand. The new larger guard stretches your skin to give you a closer shave. The new design of this razor makes it easier to shave the hard to get places like your upper lip.
