Choosing The Best Men’s Razors
How’s it going, my fellow gentleman? Today we are going to look at what it takes to be crowned one of the best men’s razors. In the world of male hygiene, there is no shortage of manscaping tools at our disposal. When choosing the best men’s razor there are few key factors you should consider. Normally you can break shavers down into two categories.
Electric Razors
The first category of shaver is looking for a convenient shaving method. This type of individual is more concerned with safety and ease of use versus closeness of their shave. Over the last decade, manufacturers have made strides in the electric razor department and now it is possible to get an electric razor that can almost match a traditional wet shave.
Electric razors have many benefits. For one, they can be used while on the go and many can provide you with a wet & dry experience. You are far less likely to get a nick or cut with an electric razor. Now razor burn is a very different story.
There are 2 distinct types of electric razors. The first type uses rotary blades and can be characterized as having small circular blades on the head. The number of rotary blades can vary per manufacturer with some going as high as 5 rotary blades on a unit. Rotary blades are the most comfortable version of an electric razor and many offer flexible and pivoting heads to give you the easiest shaving experience possible. The downside of this type of razor is it does not get as close as foil electric razors.
A foil electric razor is a bit rougher on your skin but it cuts much closer than a rotary blade set-up. If you have sensitive skin you should probably avoid this type of razor because you are far more likely to get razor burn when using this type of set-up. Foil razors are usually smaller when compared to their rotary counterparts, making them ideal for scenarios where portability is an issue.
If you are a more traditional gent, or not trying to spend a bunch on your grooming needs, you are probably going to elect to stick with a traditional razor style of grooming. Nothing beats the extreme closeness a blade razor can provide. There are a couple variations of razors to choose from as well.
Disposable Razors
The most popular kind of razor on the market today is a multi-blade disposable razor. These razors can be found literally everywhere. Their low cost and high effectiveness make them an ideal choice for the majority of us there trying to stay sharp. Multi-blade razors work by using a process that works by gradually lifting your hair out of the follicle allowing the following blade to cut closer. This is very effective and can leave you baby smooth in no time.
The downside of this approach is a tendency to get razor bumps. Razor bumps are caused when your razor pulls a hair too far out of the follicle and cuts it to deep. To avoid this you should use some sort of shaving gel. Another downside to this type of razor is the cost of cartridge refills. Ironically, the majority of us choose to go with this option because it appears to be cheaper than spending a $100+ on a good electric razor but in reality when you consider the cost of the refill cartridges and the amount of time you plan on shaving, this method ends up cost far more over your lifetime.
Single Blade Razors
Single blade razors provide you with the closest shave possible without any chance of razor bumps. This tried and true method of shaving leaves you baby soft without all the gimmicks and hoopla of electric and multi-blade razors. The downside of this style of razor is the fact that you need to follow the proper technique to avoid nicks and cuts. I prefer a safety razor when it comes to single blade razors. This type of razor limits the blade exposure to help prevent any cuts from happening.
Choosing the Best Men’s Razor for Your Personal Preferences
No matter what style of razor you opt. for you are going to want to stick with the reputable brands. Many people are unaware that the primary reason you get razor burn is low-quality blade material. If you bought your razors in a 20 pack at the dollar store, you are definitely more likely to have an uncomfortable shaving experience when compared to say a $20 disposable razor. Yes, I do get it, nobody likes to spend a bunch of money on their shaving accessories but in reality, your facial care is worth the extra investment. Your face is the first thing a person sees and it can be the basis of your first impression.
There is no shortage of razor manufacturers out there and sifting through the competition can prove to be time-consuming. Luckily, we have narrowed down your choices to the 5 best men’s razors for the money.
